Evidence shows chiropractic treatment can cause serious injuries

The data showing that chiropractic manipulations can cause severe injuries -- including strokes and even death -- continues to mount.

A recent article by American neurosurgeons on the subject stated that "chiropractic manipulation of the cervical spine is a known cause of craniocervical arterial dissections." Those dissections can cause a blockage of blood flow to the brain, which can result in stroke and death in some cases.

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum has recently surged in public opinion polls, causing some news organizations to take a closer look at positions he holds today and things he has said and done in the past.

A study of 1,600 U.S. hospitals shows that medical malpractice claims nationwide are decreasing, while the awards in the claims remain stable.

Fiercehealthfinance.com reports that hospital insurer Zurich North America concludes that medical malpractice claims are now filed below the rate they were in 2006: today's rate is 1.96 per occupied bed, while it was 2.8 claims per occupied bed four years ago.
